As we bow our heads in thankfulness to thee,
The first thoughts in our minds pertain to our own families.
Bless each and every one of them and guide them day by day
As they go routinely through their chores at home, at work, at play.
Bless all those who may be sick, comfort them that mourn,
Instill the love of God in each and every child that’s born,
Visit every table on this glad Thanksgiving Day,
Bind families together as they bow their heads to pray.
Then lead us, your Christian Soldiers, as we celebrate your birth
In the hope that one day soon there may be peace o’er all the earth.

Painted Cookies were indeed a Christmas tradition that my family continued while we were growing up–and it’s one we’re likely to keep with our own families as well!
